Monday Scenester Pick: A Midsummer Night's Drawing / Oddly-Titled but Very Important Event of the Week: ConfabuLarryum

Perhaps you're saying to yourself: It's a dull summer Monday in LFK and it would be nice if there were some kind of event where a half-naked lady would dress up as a "woodland goddess" while people make sketches of her.  Well, you're in luck! Head to Fatso's tonight to partake in a new installment of the popular Thieves' Guild drawing series. The FB event page is here.

Sure, Saturday's upcoming ConfabuLarryum may have the silliest event title since the ill-fated Kanrocksas festival, but it's going to be much cooler... and much more likely to actually happen!  This "Lawrence Festival of Creativity" is aimed at "kids, parents, teachers and educators, makers, entrepreneurs, and inventors" and takes place at Southwest Middle School from 9:00 to 3:00 on Saturday, Aug. 9.  It's probably the only place in LFK on Saturday where you can watch people build some R2DT's AND witness a performance by three world champion air guitarists including the legendary "Nordic Thunder."  Check out a good schedule of activities, workshops, and presentations here.
